My Simple Rules for Pagination

That wasn’t so hard, was it?

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”

I’m a couple weeks shy of my three-month marker as a nine-to-fiver. That, along with a more than pleasantly active personal life, top the list for my excuses for letting this blog get stagnantly inactive.

But let’s be honest here, if my job and relationship have me occupied around the clock, I don’t have much to complain about. Having reached the one year marker with my better half nearly a month ago to the day, I am ecstatically in love. And as a designer, I’m in one of the most dynamic positions I’ve ever held–almost a real-life Foursquare–as I take on more roles and the responsibility badges that come with each of them.

With plans to move in with the love of my life a month or so from now, as well as the possibility of taking on a larger role at work, all while hoping to launch a few of my long-overdue business ideas on the side, chances are I’ll be re-quoting John Lennon a few more times this year.

A slight obsession with the Nissan Murano

murano-1

“Murano! There’s another Murano.” It’s our own version of punchbuggy, but instead of introducing one another’s fists to arms, my better half and I exchange admiring stares towards this uniquely designed transportation device.

I’ve been an obsessed a fan for several years, and have longed for one of these pretty imports since I first set my eyes upon one. If I had the required documentation (a license) to move a Murano from point A (the dealer) to point B (my garage), I would have long ago, but that special day won’t be too far down the road (I hope).

“The name Murano comes from a region of Venice, Italy which is known for the hand blown glass produced there.” That’s as deep as I want to go into info about the Murano, and will let the pictures speak for themselves. I will say, since the 2008 model, they’ve modified the grill and rear lights not to my liking, but I’d still buy one in a heartbeat (maybe an ‘07 model as seen in the first two attached pics).

And if a certain someone is reading this, please add one of these to my Christmas wishlist ;)

New Year’s Resolutions

cannonball

Approximately 14 new years worth the resolutions and 42 unfulfilled promises, here I sit as 2010 approaches, putting together another list I can almost guarantee will be forgotten as quickly as all the others. Like you, I’d love to be in tip-top shape, double, triple, heck, even quadruple my income, read more often, yadda, yadda, yadda…

Recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals.

Via Wikipedia.

North America’s population is at about 525 million right now. Pulling a few numbers out of my ass, if 1/5th of North America makes one resolution in a couple month’s time, that will add up to 105 million sure to be forgotten promises. With a supposed 12% success rate, 12.6 million of those 105 million goals will be accomplished.

While having a bit of sympathy for the commitment capabilities of the human race, those are horrendous numbers. I, and likely you, are a part of that 88% failure bracket, and am almost ashamed to admit it. If we were to perform so poorly in the workplace, we’d be fired, no question, so why do we set our standards so low for personal goals/achievements/resolutions?

First.

I don’t have any prizes to give away. I don’t have an extensive tour of the site. But I do have a blog, finally. Let the name to facing, and face to naming begin.

PS – if you’re one of those folks that enjoys information, you’re welcome to read my about page to read stuff I wrote about myself.
